“La canicule!” is French for heatwave…. and France is experiencing once this week with temperatures nearing 40 Celsius.
Following advice from the local government, we will be postponing the start of the 5 aside game to 5.00pm on Friday when the heat is set to drop a little.
All festival workshops and activities will continue as planned during the day on Thursday and Friday, so there will be plenty to enjoy until the World Record Match kicks off!
All the teams who were scheduled to play on Thursday and Friday have been notified - and we are hoping to move them all into other available slots.
MANAGING THE HEAT:
We will be taking precautions at the festival with extra shade, limiting time on the pitch, free water bottles and other cooling solutions.
You should also take precautionsby hydrating regularly, staying in the shade when not playing, wearing a hat and sun cream, and taking rest breaks as needed.
WHAT TO BRING:
Shoes (astros, non-metal cleats or trainers for a 3G surface)
Extra water bottle
Sun Protection (hat, sun cream)
Anything you may want to exchange with fellow players from around the world! (jersey, flags, other mementos)
